Its delightfully peaceful, central location is ideal for exploring Dartmoor, Devon and the South West.

Owners, Chris and Jan offer guests a warm welcome with high-grade facilities, all maintained in harmony with the lovely countryside and wildlife habitats that surround the park.

Park Facilities

Set in the hamlet of Venton, Devon, Woodland Springs is 1.5 miles from the A30 with easy access for caravans and motor caravans.

Mature trees and shrubs shelter the site which offers all grass pitches with and without electric hook-ups and fully serviced hard standings.

We have a motorhome waste disposal point (not a drive over).

Our award-winning heated amenities building is pine clad to fit with its surroundings.

It includes 2 private shower rooms equipped with WC and wash basin; there is a full disabled suite.

Showers are free and there’s ample hot water for the washing up area and laundry room.

There’s also a freezer for your convenience.

Guests like the coffee machine in our information kiosk and on-site fresh baking during summer.

What a treat while you take in the tourist information and decide where to visit.

Woodland Springs is a dog-friendly site with no charges for dogs, an 1 acre exercise area and day kennels, so no need to pass up days out which are not suitable for ‘paws’.

We have a small shop/off-license for groceries and locally produced Devon food, drinks and Calor gas.

There are butcher and grocery stores at Chagford and newspapers can be collected from Whiddon Down.

Good food is served at The Post Inn, Fingle Bridge Inn, Sandy Park Inn and The Drewe Arms, all within a few moments’ drive. You can also walk to the Post Inn in about 20 to 30 minutes.

Woodland Springs Park is quiet and secure, though for your comfort we have a security barrier and a gate which is locked 23.00 – 07.30am.

Chris and Jan live on the park and are always available to help in any way we can.

What’s On Nearby?

There are so many activities to enjoy around Dartmoor and Devon; walking, cycling, fishing, horse-riding, golf, swimming, bird watching and an endless list of attractions to visit.

Walkers can take in country views along the lanes around the park, follow the Teign river valley to the inn at Fingles Bridge or tackle one of the Tor walks a few miles from the park.

Woodland Springs is your gateway to the Dartmoor National Park, it’s dramatic, often remote, scenery, crystal clear waterfalls at Lydford Gorge, Becky Falls and rivers that trip between boulders on their way to the coast.

The River Teign rises around Fernworthy Reservoir, a favorite walking and picnic spot which includes a route for disabled visitors.

There are miles of open pasture, sheep, ponies and a multitude of wildlife.

Wooded valleys shelter picturesque towns: Chagford, Widdicombe-in-the-Moor, Moretonhampstead, Bovey Tracy, Buckfastleigh and many more.

Along the way you’ll find historic inns serving local Devon fare.

Across Dartmoor are hundreds of ancient monuments, some thousands of years old.

Within walking distance from the camping site is Spinster’s Rock, a Neolithic burial chamber, which like many other relics and sightings, are part of the Dartmoor legend and folklore.

There are many festivals and fairs on and around Dartmoor for you to enjoy.

A short drive South from Woodland Springs is The English Riveria, renowned South Devon resorts and beaches.

Along the coast the rivers that rise on Dartmoor reach the sea in the beautiful Teign, Dart and Exe estuaries.

At the head of the Exe estuary is the Cathedral City of Exeter, 18 miles from the caravan site with much to see and do as well as shopping.

Close to the park are the National Trust properties of Castle Drogo, Finch Foundry and The Church House.

Steam Railways operate in Devon at Okehampton, Buckfastleigh to Totnes, and Paignton to Kingswear.
