First impressions of Brookside Country Park are how well the park has been thought out.

A well graveled, well-lit private road leads to a late arrivals and parking area in front of the park’s security barrier.

Inside, 35 level hard standing pitches are arranged off wide driveways providing easy access onto pitches.

Touring pitches have electric hook-up and are separated by evergreen laurel hedging. Fresh water points are at the caravan site entrance and facilities building.

Brookside Country Park is a sun-trap so you can make good use of picnic benches conveniently placed around the park.

Reception and the centrally heated facilities building are located at the far end of the site.

Showers and WC’s are well-equipped with hair-dryers and hand-driers, all bright and pristinely clean with no extra charge for showers.

A thoughtful touch for guests with mobility concerns is a block paved touring pitch and pathway leading to the disabled WC/washroom.

An indoor wash-up room doubles as a well-stocked DVD/library and a separate laundry room provides washing, drying and ironing facilities.

Motorhomes have use of a service point located by the facilities building.

Brookside Country Park has its own 4 acre dog walk. Wi-Fi is free of charge.

Activities and Local Attractions

Brookside Country Park is located at an historic ferry point on the River Trent under the North Lincolnshire Edge, the wooded ridge sheltering this corner of South Humber and Lincolnshire from the industrial East.

You can enjoy relaxed riverside walks, cycling, fishing and bird-watching with easy access to and from the major routes nearby.

The Trent bridleway is 150m from the park at the Ferry Boat Inn. A fishing lake is 500m.

Burton-upon-Stather and its neighbors, Thealby and Normanby, are neat country villages. Burton’s Sheffield Arms pub, Aroma Café, Chinese take-away and local shops are within walking distance or 5mins to drive.

On the edge of Burton is Normanby Hall Country Park, a Regency mansion surrounded by stunning gardens in 300 acres of parkland with a regular events calendar.

Golf is available on the estate at Normanby Hall Golf Club.

You can join the Trent Way footpath behind the caravan park and walk 2.5 miles to Alkborough.

Pause at Burton picnic spot to view the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Trent where they form the Humber.

At Alkborough visit the ancient turf maze and wetland nature reserves 5 miles east on the banks of the River Humber are Far Ings and Waters Edge Country Park nature reserves in the shadow of the Humber Bridge.

When the weather is not ideal for outdoor pursuits, good routes mean you can try some retail therapy in Scunthorpe, visit the Fishing Heritage Museum at Grimsby or cross the bridge (£1.50 toll) to explore the towns of South Yorkshire and Hull.
