Two Hoots joins Tranquil Parks

We are absolutely thrilled to introduce you to our new member park – Two Hoots Glamping, Caravan Park & Campsite

The addition of this beautiful family-run park, which has touring pitches and glamping units set in peaceful countryside, means that our network of adult only parks now extends into the South East of England!

We caught up with the busy owner, Shaun Ascough, who runs the park with his wife Michele, to find out more about this special place overlooking the South Downs in Hampshire.

“It’s all about peace, quiet, views and wildlife,” he explains.  “We’re very strong on ecology.” The emphasis on wildlife means that pets are not compatible with the park’s ethos, so dogs are not allowed.

An interesting journey to Two Hoots

Originally a small Certificated Location (CL), Shaun purchased the campsite during the Covid pandemic but remained busy with other projects until he was able to start focusing on it a couple of years ago. It has always been adult only (except for a brief family-friendly trial, which only proved how popular Two Hoots is with couples).

Michele is now running the park and she’s the owner you’re most likely to meet as a guest as she carries out most of the customer-facing roles. The couple live on site. They have three grown up children and only recently returned to England after living abroad, mainly in South Africa where Michele grew up, and also in France, where they ran a gîte business, before settling at Two Hoots.

Shaun is enjoying living in the quiet location with its great walking and cycling opportunities. He grew up not far away in Salisbury and qualified as an accountant before becoming what you might call a ‘serial entrepreneur’ with a portfolio of successful startups and interesting projects to his name – mainly in the property, leisure and entertainment sectors both here and abroad.

Experience true serenity and meet the ‘locals’

Guests go to Two Hoots to enjoy the tranquil setting and wonderful views over the South Downs National Park. The 15 pitches are all grass, with generous proportions. They are well spaced out, divided by grassy areas which are allowed to grow for the benefit of wildlife.

“The local wildlife is part of the magic” says Shaun, pointing out that you can watch Red Kites circling above on the thermals, or enjoy the antics of the three wild lavender guinea fowl as they follow Michele around. Named after a local barn owl, Two Hoots is also home to hares, pheasants, deer, glow worms, buzzards and bats to name a few, all of which are introduced by name on the park’s website.

Suitable for tents as well as touring units, pitches are open from late March to late October, while glamping is open all year, consisting of fully equipped tiny homes and pods with an ensuite toilet.

Two Hoots is rated 4 star gold by the AA, a score of 4.9/5 on Tripadviser and 10/10 on Pitchup. It was named an Outstanding Site for 2024 by Campsites.co.uk.
