The best adults-only motorhome sites in the UK

If you travel by motorhome, you already know that not all parks are created equal. Finding the right adults-only motorhome sites makes all the difference: you need space to manoeuvre a larger vehicle, level up, connect services, and actually feel at home. And once you’ve experienced the calm of a park without children, it’s hard to imagine going back.

At Tranquil Parks, all of our member parks welcome motorhomes and campervans, and the majority offer the hardstanding pitches, motorhome service points, and generous spacing that makes touring in a larger vehicle genuinely enjoyable. Here’s what to look for, and a few of our parks that are particularly well-suited to motorhomers.

Why adults-only motorhome sites are worth seeking out

It starts with the atmosphere. Adults-only parks tend to be quieter, better organised, and run by owners who understand that their guests have come to relax. For motorhomers, that often translates into practical benefits too: more space between pitches, roads and access routes built with larger vehicles in mind, and fellow guests who aren’t dashing around at all hours.

There’s also something to be said for the community. Many motorhomers are experienced tourers who enjoy meeting like-minded people over a coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening, without the background noise and activity that comes with a busy family site. The pace is different, and most motorhomers tell us they wouldn’t have it any other way.

What to look for in a motorhome-friendly park

When you’re choosing a park for your motorhome, a few things matter more than they might for a smaller touring unit:

Hardstanding pitches

give you a level, firm base in all weathers, which makes a real difference if you're arriving late or staying through a wet spell.

Fully serviced pitches

with fresh water, grey waste connections, and an electric hook-up mean you can stay comfortable without needing to move the vehicle repeatedly.

A motorhome service point

for emptying waste tanks is essential for longer stays, and it's worth checking this is available before you book.

Wide access routes and good turning space

are worth asking about if you're driving anything over seven metres. Most Tranquil Parks owners are happy to advise on this before you arrive.

EV charging

is increasingly important if you're touring in an electric or hybrid motorhome. Several of our parks now offer this, so it's worth filtering for it when you search.

Frequently asked questions about adults-only motorhome sites

Do all Tranquil Parks accept motorhomes? The majority of our member parks welcome motorhomes and campervans. A small number of parks are touring caravan only, so it’s worth checking the individual park page before you book. You can also use the motorhomes filter on our parks search page to show only sites that accept your type of vehicle.

What size motorhome can I bring? Most Tranquil Parks are set up for standard motorhomes up to around seven metres. If you have a larger vehicle, an American-style RV, or a fifth-wheeler, it’s worth contacting the park directly before booking. Parks like Somers Wood in Warwickshire and Hallsdown Farm in Devon have experience accommodating larger units and are happy to advise on access routes and pitch suitability.

Do adults-only motorhome sites have motorhome service points? Many do, though not all. A motorhome service point for emptying waste tanks is listed in the facilities for each park on our website. If it’s essential for your trip, filter or check the individual park page before booking. Waterrow Touring Park in Somerset, for example, has a dedicated service point alongside its fully serviced hardstanding pitches.

Are adults-only motorhome sites more expensive than family parks? Not necessarily. Adults-only parks are independently owned and set their own tariffs, so prices vary considerably. Many Tranquil Parks offer excellent value, particularly for longer stays or out-of-season breaks when availability is better and the parks are at their most peaceful. It’s always worth checking our special offers page for current deals.

Can I stay in my motorhome at a Tranquil Park all year? Several of our member parks are open all year round, which makes them ideal for winter touring in a motorhome. Use the open all year filter on our parks page to find them. Out-of-season breaks at adults-only sites have a particular appeal for motorhomers: quieter roads, lower tariffs, and the kind of unhurried atmosphere that busy summer sites rarely match.

Do adults-only motorhome sites allow dogs? Most do. The majority of Tranquil Parks are dog friendly, and many go out of their way to welcome well-behaved dogs with exercise areas and nearby walking routes. A small number of parks are dog free, which is noted clearly on each park page. Use the dog friendly filter when searching if this is important to you.

What’s the difference between a fully serviced pitch and a standard electric pitch for a motorhome? A standard electric pitch gives you a hook-up point for power. A fully serviced pitch adds fresh water and grey waste connections directly to your pitch, which means you don’t need to move the vehicle to fill your water tank or empty your grey waste. For longer stays, or if you prefer not to use a communal service point, a fully serviced pitch makes everyday life in a motorhome noticeably easier.

Planning your motorhome tour

One of the real pleasures of motorhome touring is the freedom to explore a region rather than staying in one place. Many motorhomers combine two or three Tranquil Parks in a single trip, moving along the coast or through a national park over the course of a week or two.

Our parks are spread across the length of England and Wales, from the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall to Northumberland. You can use the motorhomes filter on our parks page to find sites that are set up for your type of vehicle, or browse by region if you already have a destination in mind.

Whether you’re planning a spring tour, a summer coastal trip, or a quieter autumn break, you’ll find Tranquil Parks member sites that are well equipped, genuinely welcoming, and exactly the kind of place you want to come back to.
