You will find the area has plenty to offer all, whether you like to ramble along the South West Coast, explore small towns and villages, or magnificent gardens and historic houses. Activities such as sailing, surfing, kayaking, fishing and golf are readily available, or perhaps you would prefer a lazy day on one of the many glorious beaches in the vicinity. Local Towns
Parkland is located just one mile from the market town of Kingsbridge (1.5 miles to walk on the inland footpath). A bustling town with a variety of shops, weekly markets and a selection of eateries.
The resort town of Salcombe is just over 6 miles away, easily accessed by bus or car (parking can be limited during the main season). Devon’s most southerly town is the ideal place for a water-sports enthusiast. The narrow main street is lined with well known brands, many with a nautical theme, and don’t forget to try a Salcombe crab sandwich!
Again, Dartmouth is a bus journey away (if driving we recommend the park n ride) with stunning views along the old coastal road. Britannia Royal Naval College dominates the hillside and your fine an array of shops and art galleries. F~rom Dartmouth we would recommend a cruise on the River Dart, or step back in time for a journey on the steam train.
The coastline of the South Hams is lined with an array of vast sandy beaches and pebbled coves. Ramble along the South West Coast Path and enjoy the stunning scenery. Some of our favourite beaches are Bantham (ideal for surfing), Thurlestone (windsurfing or discovering the smaller quieter coves), Blackpool Sands is ideal if you require an array of facilities.
Come rain or shine there is always somewhere to visit!
National Trust properties such as Overbooks or Coleton Fishacre, there are a variety of museums, of course some gorgeous gardens and one of our favourites places to visit is Buckfast Abbey.
Activities
South Devon is the perfect location for the water-sports enthusiast, whether you are experienced, need to hire equipment or require lessons there are so many options for surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing. If you are towing or a large motorhome, we recommend travelling via Totnes. Parkland is Tourist signed from A381, which is the best approach from the Devon Expressway (A38).
On the A38 (south bound) take the A384 for Totnes. From Totnes take the A381 for Kingsbridge, follow the main road for twelve miles, until you arrive at Stumpy Post Cross, at this roundabout follow the signs to the right (Parkland sign) for another mile where you come to Sorley Green Cross, go straight across at the junction and Parkland is 200 yards on the left hand side.
Parkland is located one mile north of Kingsbridge on the A381. The site has a large purpose built entrance for easy access.
Please be careful with the directions on your sat-nav systems, particularly if you are towing! Do NOT follow directions that will take you through Loddiswell if you are towing or have a large motorhome.
