Have you heard about our Town Crier Competition?
The Calne Town Crier’s Competition is a spectacle full of colour, tradition and pageantry.
Hosted by Calne Town Crier, Mark Wylie who won the National Town Criers Championship in 2012, over 20 Town Criers from around the country and even further afield including Gent in Belgium meet in Calne to parade around the town and finish by the Marden River for the competition.
The setting by the river is magical as the Town Criers show off their colourful outfits and perform two Cry’s in an attempt to win the Wessex Crown and the ‘Two Johns’ Memorial Trophy.
