Welcome back Moor View Touring Park
We’re delighted to welcome Moor View Touring Park back into the Tranquil Parks group of quality adult only touring parks! It’s very much like reuniting with an old friend, only this friend happens to be a peaceful touring and camping park in the beautiful South Devon countryside!
We caught up with John Tyson, General Manager, to find out what’s new following some recent changes. Moor View Touring park is one of two parks which have been owned and run by Gilly and Andrew.
New Moor View dream team
If you visit Moor View you’re likely to come into contact with the friendly new team members. Currently the park is managed by John, who also runs The Thatches, a nearby lodge park. Then there’s Dave, the live-in warden, who’s always more than happy to stop for a chat with guests.
Last but not least is the new receptionist Kelly, who will give you a very warm welcome and help answer any questions you may have. She previously worked at the well known shop Pickles in the local town of Modbury about 5 miles away.
Recent refurbishment
John also told us about the recent refurbishment that has taken place or is on the way. “We’ve completely refurbished the communal area” he said, This area, also known as the guest lounge, now has a new table tennis table.
You’ll also find a brand new computer station, should you want to access the internet on a PC. It’s also been freshly carpeted and the coffee table has been replaced. “There’s also a small area with an honesty box for milk and bread,” John added.
The dog walk area, which extends nearly half a mile, had been somewhat “let go” John said. “We’ve made it easier to walk through now, but we intend to create a ‘wilderness’ area and try to take parts of the site back to nature, for the benefit of local wildlife,” John explained.
Keeping the peace
Moor View Touring Park is in a very tranquil rural setting with great views towards Dartmoor National Park. There are over 50 touring pitches but only 4 electric hookups in the camping fields, with no plans to increase this number in order to maintain the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Like many other Tranquil Parks, Moor view does not allow group bookings.
Walk to local pub and shop
From Moor View Touring Park it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the local village, with the unusual name of California Cross. Here you’ll find the California Country Inn and a petrol station with a shop which stocks Cook frozen meals. There’s also a chilli farm and vinyard nearby.
John describes the local as “a proper Devon pub” where you can meet locals as well as visitors. It serves traditional pub grub and good Sunday roasts.
Moor View Touring Park is a great base for visiting South Devon, whether you’re into walking, cycling or discovering the wonderful coastline.
