Accommodation choices at Tranquil Parks 2024
Did you know that 26 Tranquil Parks offer accommodation as well as great touring and camping pitches? From basic camping pods to luxurious lodges with hot tubs and self-catering holiday homes, this year there’s more choice than ever if you’re looking for a peaceful holiday just for adults.
The accommodation on offer at our parks is ideal if you’re a ‘fair weather’ camper or if you use a tent. These choices mean you’re not restricted to the peak months when it comes to enjoying our parks.
Guests also take advantage of the accommodation on offer to try out camping, or for meeting up with friends and family who don’t have a ‘home on wheels’ – or vice versa!

What types of accommodation do the parks offer?

From quirky to luxurious, basic to refined, you’ll find a huge range of options at Tranquil Parks. At one end of the scale, there are basic pods and cabins, which are like camping, but without the hassle of tents or campers. If you like your creature comforts, you’ll also find luxury pods, shepherd huts and lodges which are fully equipped with ensuite shower/WC, kitchenettes and in some cases hot tubs. Then there’s fully equipped self catering holiday lets. So whether you’re just starting to discover our adult only parks or have had to retire your caravan or motorhome, everyone is catered for. Most of the accommodation on offer falls into these main categories:
- Basic glamping – camping pods, cabins, yurts, shepherd huts or single-room structures without ensuite toilets, so you need to use the park’s facilities. Some units provide camping-style cooking equipment and kettles.
- Luxury glamping – mainly pods, shepherd huts or lodges with kitchenettes and/or ensuite bathroom
- Holiday lodges, static caravans and log cabins – large, fully equipped units with bathrooms, kitchens and separate bedrooms
- Holiday cottages and apartments – fully equipped self catering accommodation for a home-from-home experience

What’s new for 2024?
Update 19 April 2024: New static caravan at Two Mills Touring Park
Two Mills Touring Park in Norfolk has just installed a static caravan – the first accommodtion available at this family run park in Norfolk. The park is running a competition on the Two Mills Facebook page with a first prize of a 3 night stay (low/mid season) plus 2 runner up prizes of 20% discounts.
Delph Bank’s new luxury pods
We’re excited to see that Delph Bank Touring Park has 2 brand new luxury glamping pods this year. This is the first onsite accommodation at this popular park which the owners continue to develop. One pod is dog friendly and the other is dog free. Both have been finished and furnished to a very high standard and have kitchenettes, washroom/toilet, sofa, table and TV, providing all you need for a comfortable stay in the peaceful Lincolnshire Fens. Delph Bank also has a large onsite dog walk along a disused railway with countryside views, plus a licensed onsite shop with local specialities, basic provisions and draft beers. More additions and upgrades
- Both Cedar Lodges at Old Oaks Touring Camping & Glamping Park in Somerset now have hot tubs (top left) – what better way to relax or ease tired muscles after a day’s walking or cycling? The shepherd hut (bottom left) has new decking for this year. There are 12 glamping units at this park – see below.
- This year the shepherd huts at Back of Beyond Touring Camping & Glamping Park in Dorset now have their own private screened-off garden area (above right) and dedicated parking space opposite to give guests more privacy. Dog friendly and with wood burning stoves, these are just two of the glamping options at this spacious park in Dorset.
- At Woodland Springs Touring Park in Devon, they have extended the seating areas for the two pods (bottom right, shown before the extension). These camping pods provide a great value stay on Dartmoor. Two single camp beds are available on request at no extra charge.
- Over the winter, the team at Parkland Caravan Camping & Glamping Site, a dog-free park in the South Hams AONB, Devon, have installed a new glamping cabin which has stunning views of the Kingsbridge Estuary. They were decorating the cabin at the time of writing, so photos were not available. This is in addition to several glamping accommodation and self catering options detailed below.
At the time of writing, a new luxury lodge and a new pod had just arrived at Daisy Bank Caravan Park in Powys. We’ll have more photos and information about the new units on the park’s pages and in our newsletter as soon as they are ready.
What to expect when glamping
For basic glamping, you may need to bring your own bedding, pillows and cooking equipment etc. Some glamping units provide camping cooking equipment, while others have kitchenettes. Some parks allow you to pre-book welcome packs with essential provisions.
There may be a minimum stay of 3 nights or more, especially in the busy summer months.
Dogs are allowed in some of the accommodation and we’ve shared this information wherever possible.

YORKSHIRE AND THE HUMBER
Railway cottages at Overbrook Caravan Park
The team at Overbrook Caravan Park near Pickering are continuously making improvements to their holiday cottages, the Station House Cottages. Ideal for touring and non-touring guests who like to go away together, these cottages were formerly the Thornton-le-Dale railway station. The four self-contained cottages are half a mile from the tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and shops in the local village. (It’s a level walk.) Pets are not allowed (guide dogs only)in the cottages, which include smart TVs, modern ensuite bathrooms, a luxury welcome pack, towels and bed linen.
EAST MIDLANDS
Lakeside glamping at Grooby’s Pit
Grooby’s Pit introduced its second luxury glamping unit by the 2-acre coarse fishing lake last year. Both the new shepherd hut and the existing camping pod (top photos) have places for fishing or just relaxing and watching the wildlife on the lake. They also have well-equipped kitchens and ensuite shower room – everything you need for a relaxing stay. Small to medium-sized dogs are also welcome in the new shepherd hut. The pod has split level deck and hot tub tucked away to the side. You will need to bring your own bedding, pillows, towels and tea towels to either of the Grooby’s Pit glamping units.
Year round glamping at Wolds View
Wolds View Country Park, just 1 mile outside Caistor, has 9 comfortable, heated pods which make an ideal base for walking, cycling and exploring the areas (bottom photos) Three of the pods are dog friendly and one is wheelchair accessible. All have either double or twin beds, TV, WiFi access, BBQ and outside furniture. There’s also a kettle, fridge microwave, toaster, cutlery, crockery, glassware etc. but bring your own pillows, bedding and towels. Staying here, you’ll need to use the park’s facilities, which have underfloor heating. Wolds View is open all year round and also has an onsite cafe. It’s in a peaceful location on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB, just a mile outside the historic town of Caistor, making it an ideal base for walking, cycling and exploring the region’s coast and many places of interest.
Peak District stays at Longnor Wood
Whether you’re looking for a short break or a longer holiday in the Peak District Derbyshire, Longnor Wood Holiday Park has a range of accommodations and has been refurbishing some of it over the last 2 season (top photos). There are 1/2-bedroom lodges and some are dog friendly. Expect TVs, large decking areas and private outdoor hot tubs. Static caravans also have hot tubs and some are dog friendly. These offer well equipped, spacious, open plan living for two. The glamping pods also have ensuites and include bedding and towels – find out more.
Long Acres holiday cottage
In the quiet Lincolnshire countryside near Boston, Long Acres Touring Park has a smart self-catering bungalow that sleeps up to 3 guests. Set on the edge of the touring park in a private spot, it has all you need for a relaxing holiday and the minimum stay is one week with a Saturday changover. You’ll find everything provided for a comfortable stay, including fuel, power and bed linen, and there’s even a secure garden if you want to bring well-behaved dogs – find out more.
Pods, lodges and farmhouse at Eye Kettleby Lakes
There’s a range of accommodation at Eye Kettleby Lakes. This 150-acre park with extensive fishing lakes near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire has:
- 8 adult only glamping pods overlooking the countryside, 4 of which are dog friendly, equipped with everything you need for a short break, including a fully fitted kitchenette, ensuite shower.
- 12 luxury Scandinavian log cabins, fully equipped with ensuites, kitchens and hot tubs, some are by the side of the lake and some allow pets. Families can stay in the lodges that take more than two people.
- A holiday home farmhouse ‘Woodland View’, which sleeps up to 8. Families can stay here and the park allows children to use the fishing lakes and tearoom as day visitors with adult supervision – find out more.
Lakeside lodges at Stretton Lakes
Stretton Lakes in Rutland has 7 luxury log cabins with hot tubs. All are graded 4 or 5 stars by VisitEngland. Over the past 40 years, the site has been developed with 6 fishing lakes which now support a huge variety of wildlife. Changeover days are Monday or Friday. Rural glamping at New Lodge Farm
New Lodge Farm near Bulwick in Rockingham Forest, Northamptonshire, has added 5-star luxury glamping pods and shepherd huts in recent years. Placed in a secluded location, the pet-free units have ensuite showers and toilets, kitchens and full-size double bed with bedding, plus dining tables and patios with firepits and furniture. Relax as you look out over the fields of this working farm.
WEST MIDLANDS
Vintage glamping at Cartref Caravan and Camping Site
If you’d like to experience a vintage caravan mod cons, Cartref Caravan and Camping Site have ‘Sybil’ a beautifully restored 1930s vintage caravan with ‘Basil’ a converted horsebox bathroom! Cartref is just 5 miles from Shrewsbury with an onsite shop and bar – find out more.
WALES
Holiday Cottage with a view at Tyddyn Du
Tyddyn Du Touring Park near Conwy and Llandudno has a 5 star barn conversion, Cae Cyd Holiday Cottage, with wonderful sea views. It can sleep 4 adults with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, but pets are not allowed. The living area is on the first floor so you can make the most of the stunning view. It includes open plan kitchen, diner and lounge with a balcony, a log burner and smart TV. Everything is provided, from bedding to kitchen equipment and outside furniture. Minimum stay is 3 nights or a week depending on the date – find out more.
Camping pods and luxury lodge at Daisy Bank
The ‘wooden tent’ pods at Daisy Bank Caravan Park are suitable for 2 adults and are dog friendly. You’ll need to bring your own camping equipment, although mattresses are provided, as is outside furniture and a BBQ. Located on the English/Welsh border in Powys, the nearby towns are Churchstoke and Bishops Castle. Daisy Bank is open all year round, the pods are insulated with sheep’s wool and are close to the park’s heated facilities with individual shower rooms. For a more luxurious stay, you can rent a lodge as Daisy Bank Lodges have everything you need, including bedding and towels, plus a king size bed and ensuite, the kitchen has a cooker and microwave, as well as a TV and DVD player, plus french windows onto a deck you can sit out and BBQ.
Glamping revamp at Yr Helig/The Willows
Yr Helig/The Willows, which is located near Abersoch on the Llŷn Peninsula, made several big changes last year, resulting in these fabulous new glamping choices. Well behaved pets are welcome in each unit – find out more.
- ‘Llety’r Bugail’ is a new luxury shepherd hut fully kitted out with a kitchen, double bed, TV, fire, ensuite shower room and WC. Patio doors open onto your own outside space with garden furniture.
- The refurbished Willerby with panoramic views to Snowdonia and Cardigan Bay has a separate living room, fully equipped kitchen and double bedroom with ensuite WC, plus a bathroom with a bath/shower.
- The Chillout Pod is a unique camping pod with a high dome roof and minimalist interior. You’d need to use the park facilities if staying here.
EAST ANGLIA
Glamping with fishing at Fields End Water
At Fields End Water Caravan Park, Lodges & Fishery in Cambridgeshire, the Waterside area has 4 luxury glamping pods by the lake. All the pods have underfloor heating and 3 are dog friendly. These pods have kitchenettes and ensuites (toilets and basins), but for showers you need to use the facilities which are very close by. There’s no extra charge for fishing right in front of your pod and fire pits are allowed – find out more. There are also 6 luxury dog friendly, fully equipped lodges with hot tubs. Lake views at Run Cottage
Run Cottage Touring Park has 2 large pods with double beds, sofas, TVs, a small fridge, microwave, kettle, BBQ stand and outdoor furniture. The decks overlook the parks wildlife lake and dogs are not allowed. They are a short walk from the shower/toilet block and washing up area which you’ll need to use. Both pods are heated and insulated at Run Cottage is open throughout the winter.
THE WEST COUNTRY
Motel and glamping at Briarfields
There’s a small, family-run motel and glamping pods at Briarfields Motel and Touring Park with 20 ensuite rooms, consisting of singles, doubles and twins, as well as rooms that sleep 3 and 4. The motel does not provide breakfast, but all the rooms contain a fridge, microwave, plus tea and coffee making facilities. The three insulated glamping pods set in a quiet corner are for guests who want to camp without having to deal with a tent. Built locally, the cosy pods include a fixed double bed or 2 single beds, bedside tables, electric sockets, lighting, a mini fridge, microwave and kettle, plus a dining table and chairs. It’s easy to access Cheltenham and Gloucester from the park, as well as the Cotswolds and Forest of Dean – find out more.
Cottage and boat breaks by Wells Touring Park
Nestled in the Somerset countryside, you can walk into the historic City of Wells from Wells Touring Park, an AA 5-Pennant Platinum park. There is a one-bedroom self-catering cottage on site with a king size bed (no smoking or pets), exclusive lodges and a boat moored at Brixham (Devon) where you can stay on board (but not drive off). Modern lodges at Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park
Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park has two modern luxury lodges situated at the edge of the park’s woodland area. Both have a large deck area to sit out on. Inside, the lodges have a spacious lounge with a TV, dining table and chairs, a full size double bed, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a shower room. Both are pet-free. This award-winning park is only 250 metres from Bishop Sutton village with shops and a pub, and only 800 metres from Chew Valley Lake. Luxury glamping at the Old Oaks
There are 12 glamping options at Old Oaks Touring, Camping & Glamping Park just outside mystical Glastonbury in Somerset. These range from basic cabins to luxury shepherd huts and mini lodges. Surrounded by countryside – find out more. Glamping options are:
- Luxury pet friendly Shepherd Huts with ensuite and one with its own private hot tub
- Unique and quirky Glamping Cabins with king-sized bed, mini fridge, kitchen basics and an undercover deck with tables, chairs and a camping stove. Fire pit, picnic bench and grassed area add to the experience and there are pet friendly options.
- Mini Cedar Lodges are pet friendly offer all the creature comforts with king-size beds, decking, outdoor dining space, ensuites and hot tubs.
Relaxed glamping at Back of Beyond
There are plenty of options for glamping getaways at Back of Beyond Touring Camping & Glamping Park. There are 2 dog friendly shepherd huts with wood burners, a yurt with a wood burner, 2 dog friendly woodenlodges, 3 large pods and a medium-sized pod which is also dog friendly. This 30-acre park is a peaceful base for exploring Bournemouth, Dorset and the New Forest, and has been ‘Best Site for Adults’ in Practical Caravan’s Top 100 Sites Guide for 4 years running! It has onsite woodland, heathland, wildlife lakes in a protected area, an outdoor bar and onsite shop. Self catering and glamping at Parkland
There are glamping and self catering options at Parkland Caravan, Camping and Glamping Site Set within beautiully landscaped grounds and gardens, the site has Panoramic views look over Kingsbridge and Salcombe, and the rolling countryside towards Dartmoor National Park. Glamping on Dartmoor at Woodland Springs
The well heated glamping pods at Woodland Springs Touring Park are carpeted, double glazed and have electric sockets with USB ports. You will need to bring your own camping equipment and use the park’s excellent shower block facilities, rated 5 Pennant Platinum by the AA. Apartment and caravan at Killiwerris
Killiwerris Touring Park near Truro in Cornwall has an annex and static caravan to rent. Both are dog friendly and fully equipped for a comfortable stay. This small, peaceful park is 1 mile from Chacewater village (connected by footpaths and bridleways) and 5 miles from Truro – find out more.

Grooby’s Pit is in the process of siting several lodges around the nursery lake. The first, 1 Bell Water Lodge, which has a very modern and high spec interior, is now for sale. The second lodge is on site and we will share more news when it’s ready.
