We may be approaching the end of summer, but there’s still plenty to keep our park teams busy – and plenty of reasons to visit! From new accommodation and new facilities to exciting events and major awards, there’s lots going on.
Thankfully, the park owners, managers and wardens have still found time to share some lovely reminders of the guests, wildlife and wonderful surroundings that make our parks so special.

Grown-up getaways this autumn/winter

New giveaway
We’re grateful to the team at Red Kite Touring Park for providing this month’s fabulous giveaway prize – a three-night stay at their stunning park in the hills of Mid-Wales.
Voted Regional Winner for Wales in this year’s Top 100 Sites Guide, Red Kite has been carefully laid out to make the most of its beautiful valley views. There are spacious fully serviced pitches, immaculate facilities, a reception shop, a dog pool, a wildlife pond and a lake for fishing.

Awards latest
Many congratulations to the team at Somers Wood in Meriden, North Warwickshire. They have won the prestigious VisitEngland ROSE Award, which stands for Recognition of Service Excellence.
Only 100 businesses receive this award each year. It signifies outstanding customer service, a warm welcome and a commitment to quality.
Well done to all the team – Louise and Jonathon Fowler are collecting the award in the photo.
Back of Beyond Touring Park near Ringwood is a Finalist in this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards. They are on the shortlist for both the Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year and Dog Friendly Business of the Year categories.
We’ll find out later next month whether they have secured Gold, Silver or Bronze – watch this space!
New accommodation
Delph Bank Touring & Glamping Park in Fleet Hargate, Lincolnshire, has a new luxury shepherd hut to accompany the luxury glamping pods. Fully equipped with an en-suite shower and toilet, the new shepherd hut is ready to take bookings.
The park is now open all year round and the onsite bar ensures there’s somewhere to go whatever the weather. The team have just installed a new Bitburger tap for an even better pour, flavour and finish.
At Dulas Meadow in Anglessey (our newest member park), a second pod has now arrived ready for the 2027 season. This will be one of three luxury en-suite glamping pods, all being finished to a very high standard. Each will have its own log burner, as well as use of the park’s Sunset Sauna.
What else is new?
Congratulations to the team at Briarfields Touring Park, just outside Cheltenham, on the completion of their extensive bar/cafe/restaurant project. The new Orchard Bar is due to open on Friday 18 September, with Orchard Kitchen due to follow around mid-October.
At Fields End Water Caravan Park, Lodges & Fishery in Doddington, Cambridgeshire, there’s exciting news about the park’s on-site café.
Following Colin and Sandra’s retirement announcement last month, park owner Charlie has announced that Craig and Tracy, who run the local café in the neighbouring village, will be taking it on for next season. The café will be given a fabulous makeover, with indoor and outdoor seating, heating and air conditioning – meaning that the good old English weather won’t have to spoil dinnertime!

Back of Beyond has a new yoga platform beside the wildlife lakes, while a new coffee cart is also set to become a regular feature from 2027. The park has also introduced some very cool new Monty’s Bar merchandise!
The quieter months bring some changes to York Naburn Lock Caravan Park, although there’s still plenty to enjoy. Reception will be open from 9am to 4pm when the clocks go back, and arrivals will continue until 9pm via contactless check-in. The Friday pizza van is still serving authentic wood-fired pizzas made with fresh sourdough, while the Blacksmiths Arms in Naburn is just a ten-minute walk away.
Tea by the Lock has also changed its hours for the quieter months, and visitors can enjoy scones, vegan cakes, a licensed bar and live music on Saturday evenings. Meanwhile, there are just a few weeks left to enjoy the York Riverbus, which is running on Saturday and Sunday mornings until the end of September, taking passengers directly from Naburn into the heart of York.
What to see and do
At Eye Kettleby Lakes, there’s still availability for the East Midlands Food and Drink Festival, taking place in Melton Mowbray on 3 and 4 October. Now in its 22nd year, it showcases food from across the East Midlands and beyond, with professional chefs, street food and plenty of Melton Mowbray pork pies.
Then, on 14 and 15 November, it’s time for Melton Mowbray Choc Fest, one of the UK’s largest chocolate festivals. Expect everything from chocolate pizza and pancakes to ice cream, cakes, brownies, hot chocolate and much more, alongside street food, talks, tastings and children’s workshops. There will also be live music from Point Blank, a 60s and 70s band, in The Lakes Bar & Tearoom on the 14th. Tickets are limited and can be purchased when booking.
Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park is perfectly placed for some great autumn outings in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding countryside. The Bristol Sea Shanty Festival takes place on 19–20 September, with events at venues around Bristol’s historic harbour, including the SS Balmoral.
Autumn is a wonderful time to explore Somerset’s Chew Valley either on foot or cycle.
The Chew Valley Lake Recreational Trail is close to the park providing lakeside trails as well as
routes to nearby villages.
Looking further ahead, the Bristol Christmas Market runs from 6 November to 23 December, while the Bath Christmas Market runs from 23 November to 13 December.
There’s also plenty happening closer to home at our parks, from live music and food nights to walks, wildlife and simply enjoying the changing season.

And finally, some of the moments that have caught our eye recently…
At Back of Beyond, it was fun and festivities, thrills and spills at the End of Summer Fête with a packed itinerary of fun competitions and dog shows.
At Trethem Mill Touring Park, clear skies provided some spectacular views of the moon, captured by the park’s wonderful photographers.
There was cuteness overload at Red Kite Touring Park with Data, the silver Labrador, enjoying a dip in the doggy pond and Minnie, the 15-week-old Mini Dachshund, enjoying her very first campervan holiday. The team rescued an adorable little newt found on a pitch and returned him safely to the wildlife pond, while this vintage red VW camper brought lots of smiles.
York Caravan Park has hosted a huge range of vehicles lately, from a collapsable caravan and decorated vintage motorhome, to fifth-wheelers and large American-style RVs with extendable sides and roof.
You may recognise the couple on the left, they are featured on the front of our current brochure! Here they are at Somers Wood Caravan Park – with the Tranquil Parks 2026 brochure, of course! (They were staying at The Old Oaks in Somerset for the brochure photo!)
Somers Wood also hosted this wonderfully cheery yellow van and guests with a ‘Chihuahua Security Guard’!
Also caught on camera at Somers Wood were an acrobatic squirrel on the bird feeder and a cheeky gnome. The three small dogs enjoyed watching Dad play golf on the golf course adjacent to the park.
