After so many hot days this summer, an autumn getaway to our adults-only caravan parks and campsites might have even more appeal! You can make the most of cooler days, the autumn colours and more peace and quiet, not to mention special seasonal events and discounts.
In fact, some people think autumn and winter are the ideal time to go touring or glamping. It’s not too hot for long walks, roads and attractions can be quieter, and there’s something very special about waking up in your cosy caravan, motorhome, campervan or glamping accommodation on a crisp autumn or winter’s morning, ready to head out and explore.

Getting out and about this autumn
Many Tranquil Parks are surrounded by, or close to, places where you can enjoy nature. Autumn brings wonderful colour, as well as visiting birds and wildfowl (see details further on). It can be a fantastic time for walking and discovering new places when temperatures are cooler and there are fewer people around.

DORSET
At Back of Beyond Touring Camping & Glamping Park near Ringwood, you can save £100 on a Monday to Friday stay in one of the new ensuite shepherd huts, with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco waiting for you on arrival. The offer is available until 14 December and excludes stays from 26-30 October.

DEVON
Parkland Caravan, Camping & Glamping Site near Kingsbridge, Devon is offering several deals on touring and glamping:

Seasonal pitches
Both Blue Rose Country Park in Brandesburton, East Riding of Yorkshire, and Brookside Country Park in Burton-upon-Stather, Lincolnshire, are now taking applications for their 2027/28 seasonal pitches starting in March 2027.
The seasonal pitches are open 52 weeks of the year and are fully serviced. If you are interested, you’re welcome to visit the parks. Successful applicants will be notified in December. Contact info@bluerosepark.com or info@brooksidecountrypark.com.
Moorview Touring Park, near California Cross in South Devon, has winter seasonal pitches available, with its stunning views of Dartmoor providing a beautiful backdrop for a winter stay. Contact the park on 01548 821485 or info@moorviewpark.co.uk.

Events and things to do
Frightfully good fun
This year Halloween falls on a Saturday. So far, the following parks have announced Halloween events:
- Blue Rose Country Park has several events coming up, including the annual Fancy Dress Extravaganza on 31 October with music from Lilly McKai.
- Delph Bank Touring Park in Fleet Hargate, Lincolnshire, will be having a fun night in the decorated clubhouse with a live singer and Thai cuisine. Expect to see the park team looking very different! Book online.
- Eye Kettleby Lakes is hosting a ticketed Halloween party with a circus twist. Clowns and fortune tellers are part of the theme, designed to be more fun than fright. The event is only for people staying at the park. See all events at Eye Kettleby Lakes.
- At Back of Beyond near Ringwood, Dorset, Monty’s Bar will host a best dressed competition, spooky songs, music bingo and a quiz.

Watching winter waterfowl
Autumn brings many species of birds and wildfowl to our shores as they migrate from the north. Some of the most internationally important sites are an easy trip from Tranquil Parks, such as:

Commemorating World War Two
Several Tranquil Parks in Lincolnshire are a great base for discovering the county’s aviation heritage and wartime heroism. The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is hosting its spectacular Fireworks & Night Taxy Runs (yes, that is the correct spelling!) on 7 November, with Lancaster and Mosquito aircraft.
International Bomber Command Centre‘s Annual Service of Remembrance takes place on 8 November.

- South Wales Touring Park recommends The Festival of Senses in Llandeilo from 13-15 November. This is just one of many local events taking place.
- Wells Touring Park is conveniently located for the Wells Literature Festival takes place from 16-24 October.
- The Melton Mowbray Choc Fest is on 14-15 November – close to Eye Kettleby Lakes, where 60s and 70s band Point Blank will be performing in the Lakes Bar & Tearoom on 14th. Book online.
- November brings plenty of seasonal events to Norfolk. The Two Mills Touring Park team recommends local Christmas markets and festivals, the steam train light show at Sheringham and Holt, and Christmas lights and house decoration tours at Blickling Hall. For a good meal or evening out, The Black Swan Pub and Theatre, just 0.9 miles from the park, has recently won Best Pub for Entertainment in the Great British Pub Awards 2026. Two Mills guests can enjoy 5% off their total bill, or a homemade pizza and pint for £15.
Christmas and New Year
Somers Wood Caravan Park in Meriden, West Midlands, is trialling being open for Christmas and New Year this year, with availability still remaining for both. This is the first year the park is offering festive stays. Book online.
Delph Bank Touring & Glamping Park in Lincolnshire has a good bus link to Springfields Designer Outlet and Leisure in Spalding which has a Winter Wonderland lights display from mid-November. Book online. At the time of writing it had space for Christmas and ‘Twixtmas’, but was fully booked for New Year.
From Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park you can access Bath and Bristol by public transport or use the Park & Ride. This year Bristol’s Christmas Market opens on 6 November and the Bath Christmas Market runs from 23 November to 13 December. (The park is now full for New Year’s Eve.) Book online.
There are frequent bus services to the centre of York from both York Naburn Lock Caravan Park and York Caravan Park, so you can leave your wheels behind and enjoy the city’s festive atmosphere without worrying about parking. York Christmas Market gets underway on 12 November and runs until 21 December. Book online: York Caravan Park, York Naburn Lock Caravan Park.
Blue Rose Country Park‘s Christmas Party takes place on 12 December from 6pm, with Donna Marie providing the festive entertainment, while Neil Baker will be helping guests see in 2027 on New Year’s Eve

- At Red Kite Touring Park, there were a few pitches remaining for the New Year’s Eve charity event in aid of the Welsh Air Ambulance. The evening includes hot dogs, mulled wine, a glass of fizz and quiet (dog-friendly) fireworks at midnight.
- Eye Kettleby Lakes near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, has fully serviced pitches over Christmas and Back of Beyond Touring Park has Christmas availability remaining. Both are sold out for New Year.
