It’s so exciting to see the parks come back to life. This is a very special time of year with more visitors returning, plus an abundance of cheery daffodils, beautiful blossoms and new growth to enjoy. Here’s hoping for good weather, especially for the upcoming Easter bank holiday!

New for the 2026 season

As usual, there have been many upgrades for the new season. Well done to the park teams for working so hard to keep their parks and facilities so fresh, new and up-to-date.

Luxury pitches and special TP offer from Parkland

The team at Parkland Caravan Caravan, Camping & Glamping Site in South Devon are excited to announce that from May 2026 there will be two brand new ‘Premier’ pitches. The photo is attached showing the pitch and building (still a work in progress).

Somers Wood completes new accessible facility

Somers Wood Caravan Park in Meriden, North Warwickshire, has finished a completely new accessible facility building. The spacious facility is thoughtfully laid out and well heated.

York Caravan Park new team members and upgrades

At York Caravan Park ,they have refurbished individual shower rooms with beautiful new tiled flooring and extended the dog exercise area (shown here). The wooded walk adjacent to the existing lawn area has grown to twice the size. 

If you’ve stayed at the park, you may have met Samantha, Michael, Kerry and Kevin, who this year are looking forward to a fun season with new members Alan and Lynn. Experienced campers, the couple bring with them a great sense of humour and interesting tales from being ‘reinactors’, entertainers and sailors.

Superfast Wi-Fi and ensuite shepherd huts for Back of Beyond

Back of Beyond Touring Glamping & Camping Park on the Dorset/Hampshire border has had a major Wi-Fi upgrade after a significant investment in fibreoptic broadband with impressive speeds of 600-700mb! Even better, it’s all included in the pitch fee – read more.

Glamping at Back of Beyond has just begun a new chapter with the arrival of ensuite shepherd huts – read more. The luxury huts feature a private ensuite bathroom, a separate bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen area, private decking and views over the wildlife lake.

Fields End Water facilities finished

Fields End Water Caravan Park, Lodges & Fishery in Cambridgeshire has completed a major refurbishment of the main park facility block. It now looks much improved using Farrow and Ball ‘Pidgeon’ for the ladies and ‘Hague Blue’ for the men. The toilets are all new with modern, soft-close seats.

Hampshire Hills new luxury retreat

The new safari-style retreat ‘Ubuntu’ at Hampshire Hills (formerly known as Two Hoots Clamping, Caravan Park & Campsite) near Alresford was almost finished at the time of writing. This has many luxurious features, including a covered deck, panoramic views towards the South Downs National Park, 2 bedrooms, shower room, open plan kitchen, lounge, diner with wood burner and a wood fired hot tub.

Reflecting the owners’ passion for South Africa (and time spent living there), it has an African-themed interior and is named after the traditional African philosophy of Ubuntu. It’s about shared humanity, emphasizing community and interconnectedness – a philosophy which is deep in the very ‘fabric’ of this park.

New wetroom and ladies at Two Mills

The unisex wet room at Two Mills Touring Park near North Walsham in Norfolk is ready (left and top right). And so is the Middle Facility ladies’ section (bottom right).

Green Acres install dog wash and waste management area

Green Acres Caravan Park near Carlisle in Cumbria has installed a dog shower.  They have also added an extra refuse/recycling area in the middle of the park where the new chemical disposal point is located, making it more accessible for everyone. 

Grooby’s Pit new CDP and sign

Grooby’s Pit has a new stone sign for Bellwater Park (the residential park). They have also installed a new undercover chemical disposal point.

New team members and more in the shop at York Naburn Lock

York Naburn Lock Caravan Park has 2 new staff members for the new season, Alan & Lynn. They look forward to meeting you. They are introducing a bigger selection of local produce, dog treats, toys and gifts in the campsite shop throughout the season.

Yr Helyg / The Willows prepare for reopening and get out and about

Yr Helyg / The Willows Caravan & Camping Park on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales has been a hive of activity with deep cleaning and last-minute preparations in full swing ready for reopening on 21 March.  Here’s the spruced-up information room. Another hardstanding pitch is now available. In spite of all the activity, the team have managed to get out to enjoy the fabulous local area.

  • Blue Rose Country Park (bottom left) in Bradesburton, East Riding of Yorkshire, has 3 pitches available for Easter Bank Holiday weekend, and there’s an Easter event in the clubhouse – see below.
  • Two Mills Touring Park is fully booked for Easter but there is a waiting list in case of cancellations and the other bank holidays are filling up.  
  • Availability at Cartref Caravan and Camping Site (bottom right) was variable: March – weekdays high, weekends limited; April – weekdays high, bank holiday weekend full and other weekends, medium.

Where to go and what to do this spring and beyond

Blue Rose Easter event

Blue Rose Country Park is hosting an event in the onsite clubhouse over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. The evening event will include a bar, bingo and live music from the fabulous Lewis. Stead.  There were still 3 pitches available for the weekend at that time.

 

Brookside local social club

Brookside Country Park in Burton-upon-Stather, Lincolnshire, is promoting the local social club (shown here)  which is a short walk from the park, called Westlands Club. It’s a friendly members club, open throughout the week from the afternoon until late evening, and from midday at weekends. There are many events throughout the year, including a general knowledge quiz on Mondays, bingo on the first Wednesday of the month and a music quiz on the last Wednesday of the month. As the park for timings. There’s also a Wednesday coffee morning, live Sky Sports, TNT sports and 2 snooker tables, a pool room and jukebox.

ScrapYard Dogs, an amazing cover band, is playing on Saturday 28 March. You can visit up to 3x per year before you must apply for membership, which costs £15 a year. Membership allows you to sign in friends and the membership scheme means drinks are discounted. Follow them on Facebook to see what’s on.

Charity events at Red Kite with 10-year celebration

The Red Kite team is incredibly excited to celebrate the park’s 10th anniversary this year. 

The Red Kite Touring Park May BBQ on Saturday 9 May (2 night minimum stay) will be an afternoon of entertainment, food and a raffle! It will be extra special this year as the park celebrates its 10th anniversary. Also not to be missed are the Bonfire Night event Saturday 7 November (2 night minimum stay) with quiet fireworks and the New Year’s Eve Event Thursday 31 December 2026 (3 night minimum stay) – see in the New Year with other guests, complete with hot dogs, mulled wine and a quiet firework display at midnight. Red Kite is located just outside the town of Llanidloes in Powys, Mid Wales.

Enjoy cheese and wine evenings at Delph Bank

Indulge in a cheese and wine evening at Delph Bank Touring Park whenever you like! The park now has Snowdonia Cheese, biscuits and chutneys to accompany some excellent wines, shown here in the onsite clubhouse. Delph Bank is located in the village of Fleet Hargate, which is situated in the Fens between Spalding and King’s Lynn.

We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the park’s family team on the birth of their first grandchild, Stewart III!

Two Mills’ busy events calendar

The large number of events taking place near Two Mills Touring Park in April includes Creake Abbey Farmers’ Market on the 4th, Sheringham Viking Festival on the 11th and the Norwich Food Festival on the 26th. Check out the park’s website or the events calendar in the office for more details.

Calling all fans of rugby and more to Cartref

Cartref Caravan & Camping Site near Shrewsbury will be showing The Women’s Six Nations in April in Bartref, the onsite bar. There are some great local events coming up: Shrewsbury Farmers Market in Shrewsbury Square: Saturday 21 March and Friday 3 April 9am-3:30pm, Vintage Tractor Run at Apley Farm Shop, Bridgnorth: Sunday 22 March, 10am-8pm, Group Mountain Bike Ride – Pickle Patch Recce Saturday 28 March, 10am-12:30pm and Classic Car Show at Bailey Head, Oswestry: Friday 10 April, 10am-3pm.

The recent ‘Return to the Summer Season’ event was a hit with campers and locals (see photo)! The music was a vibe, the drinks were flowing and the food was on form. Hungry Chef is now serving food Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Cartref. Starting this month, he’s offering a breakfast menu and Sunday lunch on the last Sunday of the month. His menus can be found on the park’s Facebook page.

The Hungry Chef will also be offering the breakfast and Sunday lunch menus on Easter Sunday, as it’s a special occasion – get your pre-orders in by emailing hungrychefcampfire@gmail.com. Here’s a recent Hungry Chef Facebook review: “Having tried much of the food from the menu, I can wholeheartedly recommend you try for yourself. So tasty and you definitely get your money’s worth. Steve (chef) is a lovely guy too. You can tell he puts passion into his cooking. 10 out of 10 from a very happy customer.”

Events coming up near York Naburn Lock Caravan Park include York Food & Chocolate Festival 1-5 April, Cawood Riverside Beer Festival on Saturday 2 May and Stillingfleet Beer & Music Festival on Saturday 9th May. Springtime at Chew Valley Lake for scenic beauty, birdwatching, fishing and following trails

Just a few moments’ walk from Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park, the Chew Valley Lake, a year-round recreation centre. Congratulations to South Wales Touring Park on winning the ‘Caravan Park of the Year’ title in the Wales Prestige Awards 2026/27! It’s a huge achievement for this small park, run by Hywel and his sister Kathrin, which will mark 50 years this year! The Wales Prestige Awards celebrate small and medium-sized Welsh businesses that demonstrate excellence, innovation and consistent performance. 

The duo have also won the national title for Wales in this year’s Loo of the Year Awards. Other honours include the Platinum Plus Award, Eco Toilet of the Year and Washroom Technician of the Year.Both Hywel and Cathrin are winners of the Wales In-House Cleaning Team award.

Parkland  Caravan, Camping & Glamping Site has received the Diamond Grade in the Loo of the Year awards and the parks housekeeping team received the Technician of the Year award.

The Red Kite Touring Park team is another proud winner of the Platinum Plus Loo of the Year Award this year.

Wildlife welcome at Run Cottage

Last month Run Cottage Touring Park hosted some very special visitors – a herd of 20 deer visiting most evenings, much to the delight of the guests who loved watching them. This stunning photo shows one of the young stags visiting the park.
