News from our parks July 2025

What a wonderful time it has been to soak up the sun and the peaceful atmosphere at our adult only caravan parks and campsites! But despite the heat, park teams have been working hard to look after the grounds and facilities.

Get out for the count

Our guests and doggos are not the only ones who’ve been enjoying the parks – birdlife has been active and the warm weather has brought out many more butterflies than usual. Some parks will be supporting conservation efforts by taking part in Big Butterfly Count 2025 from 18 July to 10 August– and so can you, wherever you are. All the information you need is at  bigbutterflycount.butterfly-conservation.org.

July Giveaway

Win a stay at Run Cottage

Enter now to win a stay at Run Cottage Touring Park in our July giveaway.  This dog friendly park is in Suffolk, close to the market town of Woodbridge and within easy walking distance of the pretty village of Hollesley. In fact, the nearest pub is just 600 yards from the entrance!  The prize is a 3-night low season stay on one of the 45 generously spaced fully serviced pitches.

Open all year and run by a welcoming family team, Run Cottage has a large, enclosed dog field, a good sized nature pond and modern heated facilities.  The nearest beach is just 1.5 miles away and there’s a lot to see and do locally, including RSPB Minsmere, Rendlesham Forest and the Sutton Hoo ancient Saxon burial site.

Seasonal pitches in demand

We’ve had quite a few enquiries about seasonal pitches lately, so we’ve been doing research among our parks and will publish a report soon. We are also going to take a look at what caravan storage options are available. So watch this space and follow us on social media for more.

Briarfields’ major ‘pupgrade’

We’re excited to share photos of  ‘Dorothy’s Field’ – the new onsite dog walking/exercising area at Briarfields Motel and Touring Park near Cheltenham. Named after the family’s Ridgeback Dorothy (shown here). It’s a sizable field which is fully enclosed. ‘It has been a huge hit with guests.” says Park Owner Jo.

Pub and beer news

The hotel over the road from Two Mills Touring Park in Norfolk, The Scarborough Country Inn, has reopened for lunch and evening meals (with a fully stocked bar). This means that the nearest place for a meal and tipple is now just 150 yards away (easy staggering distance!) The park is in negotiations about offering a discount for Two Mills customers, so stay tuned for updates.

York Naburn Lock Caravan Park are pleased to let you know that The Blacksmiths Arms, the local village pub in Naburn, is now open, and serving food 7 days a week (until 7:30pm). It’s a historic pub about 10-15 minutes walk from the park, with a great reputation for good food and fine ales.

Hawkstone lager, the new beer from Jeremy Clarkson, is now available in Monty’s Bar at Back of Beyond. The brewers are using barley grown on Clarkson’s farm and a unique process for this “hard to make, easy to drink beer. We hear it’s going down really well!

Summer availability

If you’re thinking about a last-minute getaway before the summer’s out, it’s worth contacting the park and asking as you may get lucky this year.

Coming up near Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park

Some of the fabulous events in Bristol and Bath from Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park:

Bristol Harbour Festival 18-20 July will see hundreds of vessels joining Bristol’s resident ferries, historic ships, tour boats and floating cafes, with a tempting choice of international cuisine at quayside stalls and restaurants.

Bristol International Balloon Festival 8-10 August is an exciting opportunity to experience synchronised night glows at Bristol’s Ashton Court Estate. You need to book advance tickets from the balloon festival website, however you can usually see the massed balloon evening ascents from around the Avon Gorge and harbour at around 6pm.

Bath Christmas Market 25th Anniversary is from 27 Nov – 14 Dec with the park’s Christmas illuminations switch-on when the market opens. Around 200 artisan foods and crafts businesses from the South West of England have already booked chalets for the market’s celebrations and the park team expects demand to be higher than usual in this anniversary year.

Bristol Christmas Market, a Bavarian styled Christmas market opens on 7 November alongside a fairground with harbour and St Nicholas markets starting the following week.

Two Mills local events in Norfolk

Two Mills Touring Park has several major events taking place nearby over the summer, the most ‘on topic’ being the Norfolk Caravan Show, happening 18 – 20 July at the Norfolk Showground (about half an hour away from the park). The 142nd Sandringham flower show is on 23 July at the Norfolk Showground and the park has limited availability for those dates so get in while you can!

Feeling doggo?

Recent temperatures have been enough to make anyone want to lie doggo for a while (to use an older meaning of the expression). Many of us now call our family pets ‘doggos’ and it turns out that in current internet slang ‘feeling doggo’ means feeling playful, happy, or relaxed – pretty much how you might be feeling when staying at Tranquil Parks!
